Terms and Conditions
1. These terms and conditions apply to applications for the 2009/2010 Boost! programme
run by WorldWide Volunteering ("WWV"), a charity registered in England with number
1038253 whose registered office is at 7, North Street Workshops, Stoke sub Hamdon,
Somerset TA14 6QR.
2. The expression "Applicant" refers to individuals and to groups of individuals
applying for a Boost! award.
3. By submitting an application, the applicant will be deemed to have understood
these rules and to have agreed to be bound by them. All applicants shall accept
and submit applications subject to these terms and conditions.
4. Information on how to apply forms part of these terms and conditions. Applications
are only open to United Kingdom residents.
5. The Boost! application process commences 18 November 2009. Applications close
midnight (London time) on 7 January 2010. Only one application permitted per person.
6. All applicants must complete the application form at
http://baabursaries.wwv.org.uk/ApplicationForm.aspx Applicants will in particular
be required to:
6.1 Describe the volunteering project they wish to do in up to
500 words.
6.2 submit 2 character references from persons who are not related
to them and are 18 years of age or over. One must be a teacher or youth worker;
6.3 confirm that they are able to start and complete their volunteering
projects between 1st April, 2010 and 31st August 2010 and must use their best endeavours
to attend an awards event in the south of England in late February or early March
2010.
6.4 confirm that they have read, understand and agree to abide
by these terms and conditions;
6.5 confirm that they have secured the consent of their parent
or legal guardian to perform their volunteering project and seek BOOST! funding
for it.
7. If any of the information requested for the application is incomplete or not
provided, the application will be rejected.
8. Once submitted, applications cannot be altered.
9. No responsibility is accepted by WWV for late, lost or misdirected applications.
10. All applications become the property of WWV upon submission and will not be
returned.
11. Applications will be judged by the BOOST! Assessment Panel, which will comprise
representatives from the BAA Communities Trust and from WorldWide Volunteering.
Applications will be individually judged according to their merit and the practicability
of implementation as determined by the Panel. The Panel’s decision in respect of
all matters pertaining to the selection process is final and no correspondence will
be entered into.
Any legal volunteering project anywhere in the world and designed by the volunteers
themselves will be considered for an award. But preference will be given to projects:
- undertaken by groups of at least 3 people.
- of an environmental nature and of a skill-building nature.
- to be carried out within a 25-mile radius of either Heathrow, Stansted or Southampton
airport.
- involving a school or youth club which has agreed to receive the award money and
then to pay it out as the project requires.
11.1 The Assessment Panel will draw up an initial list of applications
and may then interview the listed applicants by telephone.
11.2 Applicants will be notified of their success or otherwise
by email between 4th and 11th February 2010.
11.3 Successful applicants must keep the news of their success
confidential until 11th February if they are either told of their success, or otherwise
learn of it, before that date.
12. If a successful applicant is unable or unwilling to complete their volunteering
project, WWV will reimburse only the expenses that have been incurred by the applicant
and reserves the right to reclaim from the applicant any amounts paid for the project
in excess of the expenses the applicant has incurred.
13. Applicants are responsible for obtaining (if relevant) a valid passport and
visa and any qualifications necessary to perform their chosen volunteering project.
14. All successful applicants must be available to WWV for public relations purposes
(including media interviews) as reasonably required by WWV between 11th February
2010 and 31st August 2010.
15. Each successful applicant is responsible for notifying their educational institution
and/or current employer if relevant and arranging with them to make the time available
for their volunteering project. WWV does not accept any liability for any damage
or loss arising therefrom except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
16. Each successful applicant agrees to provide to WWV a minimum of three progress
reports during their placement, and that these reports shall be entirely original
work written by the applicant and not copied in whole or in part from any other
source.
17. Successful applicants agree to allow the progress reports to be used by WWV
or by any third party without the permission of any other third party and to unconditionally
and irrevocably assign all rights, title and interest in all copyright and all other
intellectual property in the progress reports to WWV and to waive all their moral
rights in the progress reports.
18. By entering this competition, applicants confirm that WWV has the right to use
each successful applicant's entry, and reports (including written, audio and visual
forms) and any photos, videos or personal details and other publicity materials
at its absolute discretion for promotional and reporting purposes. By submitting
an entry, each applicant unconditionally and irrevocably assigns all rights, title
and interest in all copyright and all other intellectual property in any material
provided to WWV and waives all moral rights in any material provided to WWV.
19. Successful applicants consent to the use of recordings of their voice and their
image by WWV (whether obtained from the successful applicant's entry, interviews,
reports or otherwise) for any promotional use related to the BOOST! programme (including
but not limited to their placement on WWV's website) without any further compensation
to the successful applicant. Successful applicants acknowledge that WWV has the
right but not the obligation to do so.
20. Notwithstanding any other provision of these terms and conditions, WWV shall
not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but
not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury that is
suffered or sustained as a result of participating in this application process or
as a result of a successful applicant's volunteering project, except for any liability
that cannot be excluded by law.
21. WWV reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time.
22. No express or implied term of these terms and conditions is enforceable pursuant
to the Contract (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by any person who is not a party
to it.
23. These terms and conditions shall be subject to English law and governed by the
exclusive jurisdiction of English courts.
Privacy Notice:
WWV will not rent, sell, share or otherwise disclose your contact details or personal
information to third parties so that they can carry out marketing campaigns. However,
it may be necessary to share your personal information with third parties who are
involved in the delivery of the BOOST! programme (for example, the BAA Communities
Trust). These third parties may contact you on our behalf. Should we disclose your
personal details to a third party, they will be obliged not to share or disclose
your information with anyone else and not to use it for any purpose other than the
purpose outlined by us.
From time to time WWV may be obliged by law or order of the court to disclose your
personal information to meet any legal or regulatory requirements or obligations.
In such circumstances we will take all reasonable efforts to ensure that those requirements
or obligations are in accordance with applicable law.

Worldwide Volunteering cannot be held responsible for arrangements that individuals
or groups make with any organisation on the database. Volunteers are strongly advised
to satisfy themselves on the management, financial, safety, health and all other
aspects of a project before enrolling on it.
Neither Worldwide Volunteering nor any of its trustees, employees or other representatives
will be liable for loss or damage arising out of or in connection with the use of
this site. This is a comprehensive limitation of liability that applies to all damages
of any kind, including (without limitation) compensatory, direct, indirect or consequential
damages (loss of data, income or profit, loss of or damage to property and claims
of third parties.
This disclaimer will be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law,
and any disputes relating to this disclaimer will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction
of the courts of England and Wales.
